Whole Foods Market
Whole Foods Market, America's very own natural and organic superstore, is now doing brisk business at Barkers in High Street Kensington. With all the spin surrounding its launch, it certainly is living up to its excellent name, giving both our high street supermarkets and more serious London based food halls a run for their money.
Whole Foods, the largest retailer of natural and organic foods, is simply great. It ticks all the right boxes, giving the shopper and food lover the experience that they want to come back for again and again. Whether you are after some delicious cheese or perhaps just a cup of coffee and a pancake, Whole Foods caters to your every need.
Imagine 80,000 square foot dedicated to food and living the natural way. You might think that this would be overwhelming but once you've sussed where everything is, the store fits neatly into place ready to receive your bucks. There are plenty of staff on hand too to point you in the right direction and assist.
Whole Foods is spread across three floors with an in-house bakery, temperature controlled cheese room, a huge range of olives and antipasti, over 1000 wines, fresh fruit and vegetables, butcher (check out the dry-aging case) and the fishmonger with what must be the best display of fresh fish in London. There are bars where you can blend your own muesli or make nut butter. In the grocery department, you will come across the best from both sides of the Atlantic. Whole Body, the company's range of natural and organic body care and costmetics is available in the Market Hall, alongside organic home care products.
When you are weary of shopping, either buy some of the delicious food you've seen along the way and repair upstairs to the first floor where you can sit down and eat your purchases. Alternatively, you can tuck in at the tapas bar, champagne and oyster bar, the sushi and dim sum eatery and dare we say it, even more.
Whole Foods is exciting, putting the fun back into shopping for food.
