Compassion in World Farming

Compassion in World Farming is the leading farm animal welfare charity campaigning peacefully to end all cruel factory farming practices.

AIMS

Compassion in World Farming is working towards a whole food system that is kind to animals, caring for the environment and consumer health and honestly labelled. Its principal campaigns are to ban battery cages for egg laying hens, free chickens from overcrowded sheds, ensure higher welfare standards and ban battery cages for pigs, end all factory farming, stop the unnecessary slaughter of male dairy calves and stop long distance live transport.

ACHIEVEMENTS

With a history of proud achievements, Compassion in World Farming has successfully campaigned for the banning of veal crates and sow stalls in the UK and Europe, barren battery cages in Europe and an end to subsidies for live exports. After a ten-year campaign EU law recognised that animals were sentient beings, capable of feeling pain and discomfort. This agreement now paves the way for all future farm animal welfare in Europe. The Good Egg Awards celebrate a movement in leading companies who only use cage free chickens.
