Steenbergs Tea

Steenbergs Tea is a sister site to Steenbergs.co.uk, the suppliers of organic spices. The company is owned by Axel and Sophie Steenberg, who travel the world in search of unique flavoured teas. Visiting plantations and building relationships with the owners, who support Fairtrade, is all part of the deal. Steenbergs donate one per cent of their tea sales to charities that support direct environmental and social welfare programmes in the countries they buy from.

Steenbergs mostly source their tea from India and Sri Lanka. They sell a small selection of black, green and white tea. Some have wonderful names, such as the white tea, Pai Mu Tan, from the Fijian province of China, which has the least amount of caffeine in its drinking. Also its flavour is as close to the fresh leaf as you can possibly get. The Dragon's Well green tea has a semi sweet flavour with an orchid aroma. Buying online is as simple as you can get and there are tempting asides too, with tea pots and cups.

The site also offers concise information on tea, its history and its making. There are a number of tea time recipes, the peanut butter brownies look temptingly good. And may be, once and for all, Steenbergs has answered the question of whether you should put milk into the cup first. You should apparently as milk dissolves more efficiently in hotter liquid.
