Food Photography of the Year Awards 2012

The Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year Awards have opened their doors for the first time to professionals and amateurs from all around the world. The Awards are 'a celebration of food photography at its best and most inspiring'. With an impressive panel of highly-distinguished judges, an array of categories to inspire and a £5000 reward for the overall top photographer, this is a new and exciting opportunity for talented food photographers to be recognised and celebrated. The winners will be announced in April 2012 at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London and the works of the winners and the runners up will be exhibited in the Galleries between 25-28 April 2012.

JUDGES

Judges include James Averdieck, Founder and MD of Gu Chocolate Puds, Sheila Dillon, award-winning presenter of BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme, Henry Dimbleby, Founder of Leon Restaurants, John W Dixon, Director of Food, Marks and Spencer and many more experts in the field of food and photography. The UK's leading apple brand, Pink Lady is the headline sponsor for the awards and proceeds are in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital and Action Against Hunger.

CATEGORIES

Food in the Street - Capture the character and liveliness of street food all around the world.

Cream of the Crop - Food freshly taken from the field, the barn, the tree, the sea, etc.

Food in the Field - from roaming animals to growing crops.

Food and its Place - Food being caught, prepared, picked by the people who do so for a living.

Food for Sale - Food up for auction, on a market stall, or anywhere else you can find it up for sale.

The Philip Harben Award for Food in Action - Images of people cooking in any setting.

Food Portraiture - Food ready for the eating.

Young (under 18s) - Any images of food are accepted. Age groups are 15-17, 11-14 and 10 and under.

An Apple a Day - Get creative with an apple!
