warm figs in a crispy prosciutto blanket, followed by succulent chargrilled lobster tails with garlic and lemon butter, and rounded off with champagne and blueberry jellies.

We like gooey Camembert with port soaked raisins but it may be better reserved for lunchtime. Bring some port and raisins to the boil for a minute or two and then allow to cool for thirty minutes. Carefully remove the lid of the Camembert and scoop out the cheese without breaking the base. Pour in raisins and port mixture, followed by the cheese and lid. Wrap the cheese in two layers of foil and bake in the oven (200°C, 450°F, Gas 6) for fifteen to twenty minutes. Scoop out with biscuits.

For something all together lighter, try pancakes with rose-water strawberries. Very simply, the strawberries are mixed with rose-water, vanilla extract and maple syrup for that ‘sweet fragrance redolent of Middle Eastern bazaars.'
