Party by Fran Warde

This is a collection of Fran Warde's favourite party recipes. Home prepared food looks so much better than a few bags of crisps thrown into a bowl. Entertain with style and follow Fran's ideas for a truly successful party. All the recipes can be eaten standing up and in your fingers, with just the need of a napkin to catch crumbs.

For nibbles, try spiced nuts. These are roasted with cumin and fennel seeds, sweet smoked paprika and sea salt. It takes about to twenty minutes in a medium oven, stirring at half time. Parmesan crisps are another great standby. Here Fran has mixed grated Parmesan with chopped rosemary. This is heaped into little stacks on a baking sheet and cooked in a hot oven for about ten minutes.

For a store cupboard hoummus, process a drained jar of artichoke hearts and a drained can of borlotti beans. Just add salt and pepper and serve with crudités. Grissini sticks can be dressed up with Parma ham wound round the top half or figs can be stuffed with Parma ham.

Fran also takes a quick look at sweet treats too with an especially delicious recipe for raspberries in champagne jelly (you will need a spoon for this). Lastly and most importantly, she considers the booze and gives you ideas for some heavenly concoctions from Brown Cow, Kahlua, milk and ice, to Sea Breeze, vodka, cranberry and grapefruit juice. For the drivers, try apple mint fizz, apple juice, mint and fizzy water or melon and strawberry juice with lime.
