Cool Food, Sweet Food and Hot Food each have 250 illustrated recipes. The design of these books is very collectable, even though the recipes are not groundbreaking. However, they do provide a good jumping off point when your brain is in autopilot and just cannot begin to think what to cook. Turn the pages and you will soon be stirring the pot. The recipes are foolproof having been double tested by Murdoch's team of home economists. That means no excuses.


Cool Food is definitely the best of the three, with an excellent section on drinks and salads. Catch the pictures of cutlery frozen in blocks of ice. You could do this at home and use it as a centrepiece, being mindful that you've put the sculpture in a dish big enough to cope with the meltdown.
