Feed Me Now by Bill Granger
Bill Granger, as lovely as ever, has done it again with another fabulous and useful cookbook, Feed Me Now. An ascendant star on the UK food TV front (bills foods on the BBC), Bill is moving here to open a restaurant in London. So watch out, not only can you buy the book but you can wear the t-shirt too to say you've dined with him.
EASY TO FOLLOW
If you're looking for simple dishes that pack a punch, you'll feel right at home here. Recipes are easy to follow, 100% reliable and look gorgeous too, that's before you even start talking about what they taste like. Bill knows what it's like to cook for a family with the limits on time and so recipes are pared down to the minimum. Not too many ingredients, not slavish in the preparation - this is cook and go food.
FROM DAWN TO DUSK
Recipes will take you from breakfast through to entertaining friends with some freezer cooking along the way for those moments when you're on the run. To whet the appetite, rhubarb and strawberry breakfast crisp starts the day. The baked fruit contrasts deliciously with the crunchy muesli topping.
If you have some cooked sausages lurking in the fridge, turn them into a quick fix lunch with Bill's sausage, tomato and mozzarella melt. Gently cook a tin of chopped tomatoes with a half teaspoon of sugar and seasoning until it's reduced. Spread the sauce onto a ciabatta loaf that has been cut into four equal lengths. Slice the sausages diagonally and place on tomato sauce, followed by some sliced mozzarella. Drizzle with olive oil and throw into a hot oven for ten minutes until the cheese is bubbling.
SIMPLE IDEAS
To ring the changes, why not make cheesecake in muffin paper cases? They don't take as long to set, they're portable and look utterly delicious. To impress friends, make the tiramisu ice cream cake. It's easy to assemble, needs four hours in the freezer and as long as you give it thirty minutes in the fridge to soften before serving, it will be lusciously soft.
AND BEYOND
And the good news is we haven't got beyond lunch yet, which is every reason to buy a copy of Feed Me Now.
