Wikipedia Implements Blackout
Wikipedia took a real stand today by committing to a 24 hour black out of its entire UK site (starting at midnight Eastern European Time). But why such a significant gesture? Decisive action, it seems, was deemed necessary over concern regarding two bills passing through the House of Representatives (SOPA and PIPA) and stemmed from Wikipedia's fear that the bills will severely limit freedom of speech on the web. The site is concerned that the bills (in their efforts to stop the copyright infringement of foreign websites) will actually hinder more that help the primary goal of the Internet - to make information accessible to all.
See the link below for the situation as described in detail by Wikipedia.
