The Vogue Archive goes live

Fashion followers might be prepared to spend hundreds of pounds on a designer coat, handbag or pair of boots, but will they cough up the $1,575 (£1,210.17) annual subscription charge for access to Vogue's new digital archive?

RESEARCH & ANALYSE

Pitched at "fashion enthusiasts and style, design and marketing professionals," the Vogue digital archive comprises scanned copies of every issue and every page of Vogue from 1892 to today. There are more than 400,000 pages in full colour to be browsed, including covers, advertisements, features, photographs and illustrations in their original context. Meanwhile, subscribers can pin-point and research precise areas of interest through an advanced search functionality, which allows for inquiry and analysis of detailing, garment types and fabric as well as the work of major designers, models and photographers through the ages.

ONLINE TOOLS

Added to this, the Vogue digital archive offers a number of online tools, which enable subscribers to build and organise a personal creative resource, complete with visual displays, one-click printing and the ability to share and compare ideas with colleagues, clients and associates. While this fascinating resource will prove invaluable for fashion institutions, teachers and students, we feel sure that the more dedicated fashionistas out there will also find it hard to resist.
