Just another piece of screenwriting software? Well, the people at Sophocles are very keen to point out that their product is different from its rivals. With Sophocles, the emphasis is on the Writing Process, actually helping you create a story, as well as making sure it's set out properly on the page. Aimed at creativity rather than formatting. The site carries the usual list of recommendations from a small group of industry professionals. These are towards the bottom of the homepage. Don't worry if the example screenshots throughout the site look a little fuzzy on your computer. A single click will enlarge the shot until it fills your screen, giving you extremely clear pictures of what the programme looks like in all its glory. The navigation bar is at both the top and bottom of the page, which couldn't be simpler.

Features Four full pages of features, including thirteen full screenshots. As you work your way through, you have to agree that this sounds like an excellent purchase for any creative screenwriter.


Download As with all these large, generally expensive pieces of software, there is a free download to make your mouth water before you even think about buying. There is a very useful step by step guide to make the process extremely simple. Apart from one or two features, the trial version is the same as the registered version. To unlock the entire programme you will need to register and then part with $160 (US). What this means is that there is no CD or hard copy version of the programme. You download the whole thing off the internet, and that's that.
