Screenwriter's Store
Originally based right in the heart of Soho, London but now moved to the south east of the city, the Screenwriters Store proclaims itself to be Europe's 'largest authorised reseller and distributor of Screenwriting and Production software'. And why would they lie? This is a one stop shop for all your screenwriting needs, so you needn't worry about trying anywhere else first. The site has a light touch and chatty writing tone. You really feel at ease here and feel secure that you are seeing all the products in their best possible light. The latest and favourite products fill the homepage, whilst all further products are available from the links at the very top of the page. Their products include software packages, cassettes, magazines and books. Add to this regular film news, and a variety of articles about screenwriting and you'll find yourself coming back again and again.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Products The bread and butter of the site. Products are categorised according to use. There are sections for Formatting, Story Development, Film Making and related software, Books and Mags, as well as General Software Products, which currently has only one piece of software, that allows you to dictate your screenplay, which is an interesting idea. All products can be paid for using a secure server, so you don't have to worry about giving your credit card details.
News Events, updates and new product releases. This is also where you'll find related articles.
Downloads Lots and lots of scripts to download for free. Some can be downloaded immediately, others will be sent to you via email. All the necessary details are laid out very simply for each title. You may require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, and there's a link for those of you who don't have it.
FAQS All the frequently asked questions for various products, mostly Final Draft. Soon there will also be a list of UK agents willing to look at unsolicited manuscripts without charging a reading fee. Very useful indeed.
Competition Every month, answer the question for the chance to win screenwriting related prizes. Recent prizes have included magazine subscripts and a copy of Final Draft, which can't be bad.
Links Important places, especially for UK writers. Go check them out.
Courses and Tuition Includes 'in the flesh' seminars as well as courses on CD.
