Writernet

If you are a writer involved with the live or recorded industry, or if you want to write for any of the performance mediums, this site has been created to offer you a range of services that hope to further your career. Writers and Producers both use the site as a means of finding each other and working together. Click the About Us link for their mission statement and some sparkling recommendations from writers and producers. Then have a quick look at the Partners link to see that they have links with some fairly high profile groups.

It's very easy to get around and a pleasant cool blue design is appealing to the eye. The site links are always available in the column on the left.

To take full advantage of the services on offer, you need to register, which starts at a very reasonable £25 per year for an unwaged or student writer and £35 for a part waged writer. Presently, it is not possible to join up on line. Instead, there is a form which can printed and sent by traditional means.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Services Decide whether you are a Writer or a Producer and click the appropriate link. Then you try and remember whether you've subscribed or not. However, even if you haven't you can still get limited access to a number of sections. You will be told in quite some detail what information you are missing out on by not being a member. There's information about agents, courses theatre companies, awards and radio drama. Certainly whets the appetite. There is an exceptionally good value script reading service, that costs you even less as a paid up member. If you have a professional writing credit to your name you can add your name to the writer's database which will then be aimed at all the kinds of people who employ writers. And this service is free.

News A range of items about the site; the industry; and funding for writers.

Opportunities Fairly active list of job and training opportunities, but you can't get the full details without signing up and becoming a member.

Bulletin Board Industry events and large list of useful sites. These sections are available to everyone.

Publications Very reasonably priced, or even free, here are guides and reports offering advice on a range of writer related issues. There are also a mass of articles, each of which can be sent to you by post or email and costs a pound.
