Fry, the current Lord of Twitter, the MC of QI, the author of The Liar, the embodiment of Wilde in Wilde, the writer, the wit, the actor, the director, the TV presenter, the journalist, is, aside from being in possession of sublime comic gifts, a penetrating intelligence and a gift for language, that rare figure in life: a man of sympathy and generosity. To hear him enthuse on a subject is a marvel. There is none of that horribly fashionable cynicism or ironic posturing. Just a huge desire to please.

MUCH TO SEE AND DO

Well, stephenfry.com is a suitably lovely site which charms and delights in equal measure. It's sweet and friendly and welcoming. A poppet of a website. There's plenty here for Fry's worldwide fan club to enjoy: tweets and blog entries (the one on Wilde and Chekov is superb), audio, video, a forum, a general store and a range of pleasing colours.
