Chartered Institue of Journalists

The World's oldest institution for Journalists, the CIoJ is both a professional organisation and a Trade Union, representing and protecting the interests of its members. Basically this site wants you to join its ranks, and as a journalist, you might find it in your interest to do just that. Navigation of the site couldn't be simpler, all the links are at the bottom of each page, click the bright red CIoJ buttons to go to your area of choice. It's a little sluggish at times, but the pages are clear and easy to read. THere isn't a great deal at the site, but as a journalist you may find membership invaluable. On-line membership Application For your convenience you can apply for membership online. There are four levels of membership depending on your job and professional experience. The forms are very clear, as are the payment details. Upon filling out the form online you will be asked to choose which subscription rate applies to you, but will not be asked to give any credit card details at this point.


Institute Journals The last two issues in full. They're qutie big downloads (more than a Mb)
and you'll also need Acrobat Reader to view the files. There's no link to this software here, but it is freely available elsewhere on the internet.
