Untold London

Untold London is dedicated to the history of the capital's many diverse communities. Edited by social historian Sara Wajid and based at the Museum in Docklands this search and listings service will keep you up to date with cultural events associated with the histories of London's multi-ethnic communities. The focus is on London museums, archives and galleries as well as individual stories.

The site is colourful, but not annoyingly so. It's also very well organised. Content is divided by channels across the top of the page. It's not too text heavy and it's very easy to find your way around. The archive, although small, has fascinating material from past exhibitions, talks and events, including downloadable text and images. The links page to other relevant sites is excellent, given you a real flavour of what you might find if you click on the link.

The News channel details new exhibitions and offers features on particular cultural groups. There's a huge list of venues, you can search museums for specific collections and the Listings service allows you to search for events and exhibitions by continent and community, invaluable given that (according to the site) more than three hundred languages are spoken in London and 30% of Londoners were born abroad.
