The Walters Art Gallery

Though perhaps not as well-known as it should be, this museum has an outstanding collection that covers art history from Ancient Egypt to the 19th century, including Islamic and Asian departments. The site itself is compact, so navigation is easy and the download speed is fast. Image quality is high but there is not a great deal of interactivity. Twenty or so highlights are chosen from each department to represent the collection. These are given brief descriptions and analyses. The images can be magnified without any slip in their quality. The number of items chosen means that you can develop a proper sense of the quality of the collection beyond only one or two stars. Future exhibitions are not covered to the same extent but all the obvious information is there.
