National Museum of Photography, Film and Television

As you would expect from this Bradford-based museum's concern with image, the homepage of their website is highly polished. The homepage is delightfully designed, with navigation by menus in the centre, top and right-hand side of the page. The pages load smoothly and the practical information is seamless.

The vast collections and archives found in the insight section are described with a genuine enthusiasm for all things photographic and filmic. Among a vast film and photographic archive, such oddities as Javanese Shadow Puppets and Ursula Andrews's makeup for the 1965 film 'She' are just part of an intriguing and constantly surprising mix of objects.

Much of the text within this section contains links to biographies, photos and film clips, including the earliest known moving footage. Bizarrely this is a somewhat dull clip of Leeds bridge. The collections and archives are fully described; researchers or those with an unhealthy interest in TV and film trivia could doubtless spend hours here.

The education section is full of good resources also. Information packs, teaching aids, special events and lectures are all offered in very full detail and range.
