New Welsh Review
The New Welsh Review is a quarterly literary magazine based in Aberystwyth. Funded by the University of Cardiff, the University of Glamorgan, the University of Aberystwyth and the Welsh Books Council, the magazine offers new writing, poetry, criticism, essays and photojournalism.
BACKGROUND
In 1988 the New Welsh Review was founded as a new literary magazine for Wales following the demise of the Anglo-Welsh Review. The focus is on Welsh writing in English. Although the magazine is primarily interested in Wales, it also seeks to place that country within a broader context, both as a constituent part of the UK as a whole and internationally. Many of the most celebrated of contemporary writers that are either from or based in Wales have contributed to the New Welsh Review, including Daniel Abse, Rachel Trezise, Gwyneth Lewis and Niall Griffiths.
ONLINE CONTENT
Although most content is available only to subscribers, the magazine has made available an online archive. This offers a selection of writing from the New Welsh Review which goes all the way back to its very first edition. You can also read the editor's blog.
