Garage Magazine
Having founded The Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture in an abandoned constructivist bus garage in Moscow in 2007, Dasha Zhuchova (art philanthropist, entrepeneur, one time editor-in-chief of Pop Magazine and girlfriend of Roman Abramovich) has now launched a magazine designed to bring together the interests of art and fashion into a heady cocktail of blurred disciplines. With stars of the art world exploring fashion tropes and vice versa, in Dasha's own words, ‘Welcome to the world of Garage!'
THE SHOCK FACTOR
The first issue of Garage has already created a sensation, as one of the three available front covers features a Damian Hirst butterfly design tattooed artfully (and painfully) around a model's vagina. Despite this image being covered by a peel-away butterfly sticker, WHSmith has already banned the magazine from its stands.
As a quick visit to WHSmith to have a cheeky leaf through the pages is out of the question, why not visit the Garage Magazine companion site, Garagemag.com to get a feel for what to expect from this new project. There is also a feature on the site called ‘STOPS', an interactive sartorial scrapbook where people can post pictures of designer looks and readers can ‘love' their favourite ones. The most loved look for each brand per season will ‘get a surprise', so start uploading your images, quick.

COMMENTS
Dasha Zhuchova's new magazine does well to blur the boundaries between fashion and art.
