BBC Comedy

There are many things the UK is rubbish at: summers, football and food chief amongst them. However, one thing the Brits can do exceptionally well is comedy. The comedy section of the BBC website has had a revamp. Bigger, brighter and more colourful than before, it's a fine tribute to a great cultural achievement. You can watch clips, follow comedy news on the blog and enjoy new content exclusive to the web.

OUR FINEST HOURS

Say what you like about the BBC - and many Daily Mail reading Rupert Murdoch-worshipping free market evangelists will go so far as to equate the corporation's devilish influence with the worst excesses of Stalin's Russia - but the UK's public service broadcaster has produced some of the finest televisual comedy the world has ever seen. Once you're sick of The Young Ones, Ever Decreasing Circles, Blackadder, The Mighty Boosh, Yes, Minister, Steptoe and Son, Yes, Prime Minister, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Have I Got News For You?, The Thick of It, Only Fools And Horses, Shooting Stars and Little Britain, you can watch Q, The Day Today, Porridge, Outnumbered, The Fast Show, The Good Life, Harry Enfield's Television Programme, Gavin and Stacey, Q.I., I'm Alan Partridge, Fawlty Towers and The Office. Not bad for a sinister cabal of quasi-commies.

WEB EXCLUSIVES

There's unseen footage from The Thick of It, the great stand-up Reginald D. Hunter on English literature and an animated Mitchell and Webb. More will be added so it's worth coming back to this site on a regular basis. Is it raining outside? Have England gone out on penalties again? Did the pub really serve you up that rancid steak and ale pie? No bother: just remember what we're really good at.
