World Book Day

World Book Day UK was launched in 1998 with the aim of celebrating and promoting reading. Inspired by the Catalan tradition of exchanging books and roses with loved ones on St George's Day, World Book Day, is a collaboration between booksellers and publishers and has a specific emphasis on encouraging children to explore the joys of reading.

The website is the place to go to discover exactly what events are on and to find out about the special reduced price book tokens that are on offer. In 2011, the event takes place on 3rd March. For teachers of children and for parents keen to get their children excited about reading, World Book Day offers an annual opportunity to make stories special.
