Brontë Parsonage Museum & Brontë Society

It is still hard to believe that one family could have produced three outstanding novelists, but the Brontë sisters occupy a unique position in English literature. Emily's Wuthering Heights, Charlotte's Jane Eyre and Anne's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall have inspired songs, books, films and endless critical interpretation.

The section labelled The Brontës begins with an essay placing the family in its historical context and includes an interactive chronology, together with profiles of the novelists, family history and a family tree. Synopses of the sisters' novels include commentary on structure and theme.

Audio tapes, CDs, videos, critical guides and biographies can all be found in the shop alongside the novels, and the site also includes details of how to join the Brontë Society. The blog will keep you to date with all the news.

VIEWING THE MUSEUM

The parsonage in Haworth, Yorkshire, where the novelists spent much of their lives, is one of the most famous literary shrines in the world. You can view items in this museum of creative curiosities and enjoy pictures of the moors surrounding the Brontë's home.
