October 2010: Waiter Rant
As a form the blog is perfect for the art of the rant. There is no editor to ruin everything by cutting out that vital expletive in the fifth line, the speed of online publishing means that there is little time to calm down and consider rewriting you have written, and, with the rant being the often patronised cousin of argument, the unmediated, rough nature of much online writing adds something pleasingly raw and human to the bile and spittle of verbal splurge.
Waiter Rant has been around for several years, and, until its author Steve Dublanica found fame through a book deal, it chronicled the day to day existence of a world of rude customers, terrible tippers and complaints over service. If you too have little "patience for stupidity" you are likely to find something of interest here, although you should look in the entries before July 2008, when the author unmasked himself and started detailing his new life of TV interviews and star appearances.
Mr Dublanica, has, in effect, produced a guide to how to treat your waiter. If you don't wish to have reason to doubt the provenance of that odd-looking Minestrone soup you'd better pay attention.
