October 2012: Diary of a Publishing Intern/Professional
Steff Lever's 'How to' manual for those of us climbing from intern to professional.
She came, she saw, she conquered – yes Steff Lever is an inspiration if ever there was one. Whereas most graduates bemoan the state of graduate unemployment – Steff got up and did something about it, providing a ‘How To’ manual in the form of her blog entitled ‘Diary of a Publishing Intern’. Lever is now a fully-fledged professional but the title of the blog still remains – and for good reason.
WHY DO WE LOVE IT?
Because quite simply Lever has gone out of her way to ‘inspire a generation,’ with the diary-esque entries reporting on her attempts to secure a much yearned for job in the publishing industry. Along with her experiences (and a myriad of handy tips) Lever also provides a serious guide to other young uni leavers that cannot help to inspire, motivate and inform.
IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PUBLISHING
Though her field of expertise is publishing, Lever’s tips are universal and can be applied to any industry; hence her experience is, quite literally invaluable.
The blog lists a whole range of current internship placements, which vetted by Lever herself are sure to be of the highest quality and provide a serious return on the young graduate’s investment of time, effort and energy.
After the Olympics it’s time for us to continue our efforts to raise the prospects of the next generation – this is a blog that significantly contributes to that worthy cause. If you know a young graduate in search of an internship and or full time work, send them a link to Lever’s blog – they can’t help but thank you in the long run.
