June 2010: David Byrne
You don't get many blogs like this. David Byrne's online journal is incredibly generous. The former Talking Heads frontman, one of music's great originals, clearly spends time on this internet endeavour: some of the posts come in well over the 5,000 word mark. Alright, so that is only likely to put off many readers, but the love and care Byrne puts into his blog should inspire. The internet can be about more than 'hilarious' cats on YouTube.
Byrne's blog is about music, food, photography, art, travel, buildings - whatever comes to mind. It might take you a while to work your way through it, but it's worth it. Byrne has great style, resists easy catergorisation and is predicatable only in his unpredictability. Honest, direct and uninterested in the cheap sugar of self-promotion, Byrne is a wonderfully peculiar champion of the imagination. For his fans, this is unmissable.
