May 2011: Transition Culture
If you believe that Jeremy Clarkson is next to God and that all this nonsense over climate change and the end of oil is the work of tree worshipping lunatics who wish to return us to a prelapsarian state of edenic bliss then please consult a psychiatrist. If you do not believe such things, then welcome, and proceed to the next two paragraphs in this little piece about our Blog of the Month for May.
THE TRANSITION MOVEMENT
Far from the lucrative bluster that the BBC's programme for car fetishists spits out, there are people like Rob Hopkins. Hopkins is the co-founder of The Transition Culture movement, which is working to build an alternative to a world dependent on a finite resource and obsessed with money as the prime value in human life.
A WORLD AFTER GROWTH
This blog explores a world after growth. For anyone who believes in local responses to globalism, sustainability, and helping to build a society in which the needs of co-operate communities are given precedence over the corporate profit motive, this will be of interest. Anyone else, particularly the constituency that believes there is nothing wrong, and that all we are doing at present is bidding our time until the next great boom arrives, would do well to test their view of the world here.
