Fitness Sites

Inspiring you to put a spring in your step.

Fitness, yes fitness. The sun is shining, there really is no excuse now. And there are a myriad online resources to help you stagger to goal weight. These are our top six.

JAWBONE
jawbone.com

Wearable tech is at the cutting edge of all that’s hip, but also functional. The longer we use Jawbone (a few months now) the more impressed we are (link to piece). It really learns your patterns, and improves its ‘Smart Coach’ advice over time, whilst also encouraging you to consistently raise your goals and offering up praise where it’s needed (i.e most of the time).

CHARITY MILES
www.charitymiles.org

What a brilliant concept and follow through this is. Corporate sponsors agree to donate for every few miles you manage to complete in the sport of your choice (meaning you can cease bothering family and friends).

CROSSFIT
www.crossfit.com

Every day there’s a new fitness craze and the latest is CrossFit, high intensity training with variety as its core USP. Based on ‘functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more’, the system was developed by founder Greg Glassman over several decades.

TOUGH MUDDER
toughmudder.co.uk

Taking fitness to the extreme, Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses and 1,000,000 inspiring participants worldwide, this is one of the premier adventure challenge series in the world.

SPARKPEOPLE
www.sparkpeople.com

The collective hive mind, how much more powerful could it be to inspire others to join you on your mission to get fit? Bringing a touch of social media to you daily routine, SparkPeople offers advice from experts, new foods and recipes and a community of millions to help you on your journey. What more could you need?

RIVER SWIMMING
www.river-swimming.co.uk

Yes! Now that it’s slightly warmer exercise in the great outdoors doesn’t seem quite so egregious, which brings us to the River and Lake Swimming Association who are behind this genius site. Jealous of all those people swimming through the Serpentine of a morning? Now there’s no excuse not to join them.
