Not long now till Burns Night – 25th January – to mark the annual celebration of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns. To celebrate, I wanted to bring you five top Scottish Instagrammers. Och aye.

Lucy Hamilton lives in Oban on the West coast of Scotland and records her adventures around Beinn Lora, Mull and Ardnamurchan on Insta. The talented photographer and website designer take dramatic landscape pictures and has 149k followers. On taking photos with the iPhone, Lucy says, ‘I love the fact that it’s so untechnical – a pure point and shoot. With the iPhone, I see something, whip the phone out, and manage to take the photo much more quickly than any other device.’

Asset manager by day, mobile and travel photographer by passion, Oates has lived in and around Edinburgh all his life. He loves to share images of Edinburgh and Scotland and by doing so, has picked up a loyal following of 128k on Instagram. ‘Almost all of my Instagram photos are shot on an iPhone, it’s just so much easier to be able to shoot, edit and post from the one device, which I pretty much carry with me everywhere,’ says Oates who prefers to use Snapseed and VSCO for detailed photo editing.

He got hooked on Instagram after sharing pictures from a Munro climbing trip on 2013 with his brother. He loves to photograph the East coast outside Edinburgh and the isolated pockets of the Cairngorms. Off the back of his Instagram success, Ruairidh has been approached by Qatar Airways, Skyscanner and to participate in exhibitions in New York, Austin and London.

Entrepreneur and writer Natascha Hoiting describes herself as a hobby photographer. She loves hiking and shooting pictures in Scotland and Holland. This year, she is hiking the TGO Challenge 2017 for charity. She has taken stunning pictures of wild flowers at Glencoe and Rannoch Moore.
