ProblemSolved was founded by Alison Cork to help people find reliable tradesmen, whether they are looking for a decorator, electrician or plumber. So often an area where the homeowner can get ripped off, ProblemSolved provides a directory of tradesmen where the public can read and write reviews about those listed on the database.

There are over 60000 members who have either been recommended by the public or by a selection of the UK's leading trade bodies. The site has a feedback-driven search facility and includes in-depth profile pages, blogs and galleries which are regularly updated by its members. Their goal is simple, 'To sort the men from the cowboys.'

The service is also available by text message. You just need to text plumber, builder etc followed by your postcode to tel no. 87233 and you will receive the names and telephone numbers of three recommended companies that cover your area. This service costs 50 pence per text. A useful number to have on your mobile for those emergency situations.

ProblemSolved, with its updated reviews of members, gives you the confidence to hire tradesmen. The site has a useful list of dos and don'ts which every homeowner should follow before hiring someone. There are pages on expert advice and you can always ring their advice line if you need more help.
