PN Review, originally published as Poetry Nation, is one of the world's leading literary journals. Published for over 30 years and edited by Michael Schmidt, it enjoys an unassailable reputation for publishing all that is new and interesting about poetry and poets.
PN Review's website is fully accessible to members, but for a taste of what is on offer follow the Free Tour link from the home page. Currently you can browse the site through Issues, Reports, Poems, Articles, Interviews and Reviews. There is a full search facility. Browsers who are not yet members can also read samples from each of the above sections. Once visitors have signed up, there is a wealth of writing on offer. Many issues are now available to read online, and eventually all will be.
PNR is dedicated to three principles that see English poetry as a continuum, define English poetry as poetry in English whether in Britain, the Commonwealth or North America, and emphasize that Anglo-American and European modernisms have to be valued. The website pinpoints the interest in championing the experimental as well as keeping abreast of all that is new about poetry in the rest of the world.
Many poets and writers have been published in PN Review early in their careers including Andrew Motion, Blake Morrison and Sinead Morrisey. Special supplements are available on a number of leading poets including Lennox Berkeley, Michael Hamburger, Michael Longley,Kathleen Raine and Edmund White.
