UK Local Area provides local area information by post code on any area in England and Wales. Search results include a neighbourhood profile, house prices and coucil tax rates, gas and electricity prices, the nearest public transport and schools in the area, divided into key stage 4, GCSE, A/S and A levels.

First key your post code into the search and a map of the area appears. All areas display a Quality of Life indicator which is based on the Index of Deprivation. What you get is a measure of the quality of life in that area in comparison to others in England and Wales.

The information provided is pretty brief but there are numerous links to other helpful sources of information and the data provided is reproduced from Office of National Statistics, the Department of Education and Skills and the Land Registry.
