Steenbergs are suppliers of organic herbs and spices and their website not only sells these cooking essentials but there is also much information on the art of mixing spices. Steenbergs buy peppers, herbs and spices direct from farmers and producers around the world. These are then hand blended by the Steenbergs themselves at their base in North Yorkshire, using their own recipes.


The site is a spice buff's haven: choose between Hawaiian red sea salt (tinged with volcanic clay that runs into the sea and has a mellow flavour); white poppy seeds that are used in Indian cooking to thicken, add texture and flavour to sauces; rose petals; lavender flower heads for baking; premium Mancha saffron and Sichuan pepper from China. All the herbs and spices come in varying sized packages, with some in stylish cigar tubes.


Steenbergs have just launched a Fairtrade vanilla extract which is of high quality offering exceptional flavour. Made from vanilla beans grown in Kerala, Southern India, the extract is produced in the UK and packaged in amber bottles.
