Public perception of mental health issues is changing quickly. One in four people are likely to have mental health problems during their lifetime. You certainly don't need to be one of the 4000 people in the UK taking their own lives each year to benefit from this site run by Mind, which is the leading mental health charity for England and Wales and has more than 200 local associations.
MIND THEIR BUSINESS
The key purpose of Mind is to speak up on behalf of people with experience of mental illness. The charity works to influence policy, challenge discrimination, educate, develop a wider range of services and achieve equality in civil and legal rights. It was set up in 1946 as the National Assocation for Mental Health. It changed its name to mind in the 1970s.
MIND ONLINE
The Mind website is the place to come search for your nearest local Mind Association or Mind shop. You can find campaign information, press releases and news about fundraising events. There is also a very helpful A-Z, which offers insight into mental illness such as Bipolar Disoder, as well as treatment, support and advice.
