This site offers a door-to-door driving map service for the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Simply type in a starting point and destination and, miraculously, detailed directions pop up on how to get there. It also tells you how long your trip is likely to take, and the total distance of your journey.
Travellers can ask for information on any traffic incidents along the way, popular attractions to visit en route, and even look up business addresses and telephone numbers, which appear to cover most cities in the US.
Despite all these good things, the yellow and white pages, jumbled graphics, photos and flashing adverts can leave you feeling quite dizzy, and the site can be cumbersome and difficult to navigate.
SPECIAL FEATURES
City Guide Unfortunately, the site often tries to cover too much, and this guide is a prime example. It offers news, weather, entertainment, shopping, and dining information for all major US cities, but also posts photos of missing children broken down by area, and offers a personal dating service for finding someone geographically desirable.
Business Traveler offers a hotel search for anywhere in the world, gives airport terminal maps and driving directions, with printable online maps.
Leisure provides maps of National Parks, scenic drives, and a more personal map service for planning a trip.
Around Town offers help if you intend to move to the US, with services to help calculate a salary based on the cost of living index in your new town, and a list of more than 12,000 reports on public school districts and child care centres.
My Mapquest lets you save all your map and address requests and provides you with a password to access your information at a later date.
